The "it probably wouldn't get released now" Christmas song.

I was playing a Christmas playlist on YouTube when this song started playing. It is, of course, Proper Crimbo from Bo Selecta. Which was, basically, Keith Lemon before he became Keith Lemon (or when I thought Leigh Francis was funny, as I loved "Bo Selecta" but hated anything Keith Lemon related) and this song just takes the piss out of a bunch of celebrities.

The problem with that is, when it can be funny, it can be a bit cringy, too. And I'm not sure it would get released now. I mean, the whole Michael Jackson verse could take on many different opinions now.  There's also the whole "A white man pretending to be black" thing going on, too. I think Craig David spoke out about how he disliked being portrayed on the show.

It definitely is of its time. But, the reason I've posted is, because Everytime anyone uses the word "Crimbo", my brain instantly adds "Selecta" because of this song.

I saw a post of "Facebook" and I suddenly had this song playing in my head!

I saw a post on "Facebook" about how someone remembered the bus company, "national express" and, of course, my brain instantly started playing this song.

"National Express" by The Divine Comedy.

I love this song. My mum loved this song. And everytime we passed a National Express bus, we would sing: "Take the national express, when your life's in a mess" to each other.

You may have realised, by now, that I had a bit of a.... unconventional upbringing!

I think the entire song is a fun take on life and I love people watching, and this song kind of encourages you to people watch, too.  And, of course, the immortal line of: "it's hard to get by/ when your arse is the size/ of a small country", is memorable!

Unfortunately, the national express seems to be no more but we can still use another bus company to go where the air is free!

And Tomorrow belongs to me!

I found it: the 24 hours from Tulsa spoof ad!

When I posted about "24 hours from Tulsa", I mentioned my mum and I would randomly sing '24 toasters from Scunthorpe ' because of an advert.

Well. Thanks to YouTube, I found the advert. And it's totally batshit, in a good way.

As soon as I watched it, I remembered just loving it as a kid. Ive always had a strange sense of humour, where I just find silly things funny 😂

My favourite line in the advert song is "I can't decide if I will buy a diamond ring or a drill".

I have to admit that I've watched it about 50 times. And it gets crazier each time.

Speaking of "Coronation Street"....Maxine Peacock also released a song.

I don't know how I remember these songs! All I can think of is that I do have a bit of an encyclopedia knowledge of music.

Yes, Tracy Shaw, who played Maxine Peacock, in "Coronation Street" released this song. Which, I am ashamed to admit, I did love back in the day. It was, randomly, always played at parties.

I'm not too sure what Tracy Shaw is doing now, but she will always be remembered as Maxine Peacock. Wife of Ashley (with the squeaky voice) and who Richard Hilman ("Norman Bates with a briefcase" according to his wife, Gail) bashed over the head, and killed her.

Okay, I did kind of impress/ worry people when I remembered this song.

I attend a craft/ creative group on a Thursday afternoon, and the radio is always on, or we have a song along (even though most of us are not great singers lol) and we were randomly talking about Destiny's child, and I mentioned how weird I still find it that they did a song with the guy from "Coronation Street". At that point, I couldn't remember Matthew Marsden's name.

So, yes this song does exist. It wasn't some fever dream I had. It's a cover of Hall and Oates classic song.

Matthew Marsden is an actor who played a character called Chris in the UK soap "Coronation Street" and the last I heard about him, he was living in America.  I have to admit I really did like his other single; "The hearts lone desire".

That didn't feature Destiny's child.

People were equally impressed and horrified I remembered that song. I think the horrified people were hoping it had been wiped from their memories forever.

This song is in my head constantly, thanks to keep fit!

I mentioned a few posts ago that, even though I'm not over 50, I do go to an over 50s keep fit class. And one of the songs we do a "routine" to is "Shang a Lang" by The Bay city Rollers.

And it's now constantly in my head. Just on loop, randomly 😂

Everytime I hear "Gangsta'Paradise" by Coolio.....

I remember just how much my mum loved this song!

My mum was not the typical rap fan, but she randomly loved "Gangsta's paradise". In fact, she quite liked Coolio, too. I remember when the song came out, I bought the cassette version (I had a cassette player in my room) and my mum, a few days later, and bought the cd so she could play it downstairs, in the  living room 😂 I'm still not convinced she got all the lyrics, but it was quite funny that she loved the song.

Tomorrow is 4 years since I lost her. And it's nice that I have some really random memories of her.
